A getaway during the winter can be a therapeutic experience. But some people tend to avoid them because they automatically think of skiing as the only available activity. The truth is, there are getaways that are as perfect for people who don’t like to ski as they are for people who do like it.

One example of this is Whistler Blackcomb. Located in British Columbia, it’s a ski resort that has a lot more to offer. The resort boasts numerous restaurants and shops. It also has activities such as a tube park, movie theater, and ice skating rink. Guests of the resort can enjoy a snowmobile tour, or just take in the street performers, whose routines include dancing, music, and fire handling. They can also take to the skies with the resorts’ Peak 2 Peak Gondola rides, or even go ziplining or trek across a suspension bridge.

Another example is Teton Village, located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The village is just one small part of the Grand Teton National Park. Many visitors to this resort experience a tour of the forest where they are pulled around by dogs. Others prefer to explore the resort, armed with snowshoeing. Other outdoor activities that Teto Village offers include tubing, snowmobiling, and paragliding. Those that prefer to spend time indoors can enjoy the various spas, as well as numerous pubs and restaurants.

Vermont’s Jay Peak Resort is also ideal for those who don’t want to go skiing on their winter getaway. There are many outdoor and indoor activities to choose from. Outdoor activities include snowmobiling, sleigh riding, snowshoeing, ice hockey, and ice fishing. Is theater is the site of many ice skating performances.

The Nordic Center at the Jay Resort offers up plenty of outside activities for those looking to remain active during their stay, including numerous restaurants. But the Center also has an indoor water park that has proven very popular with resort guests. The main attraction of the park is its La Chute, a ride with a 65-foot drop, in which riders have the floor drop out from under them.

These are just a few of the best winter getaways for a variety of fun activities. Everyone can find something to enjoy at one of these resorts.
